Intermediate Photography Online (Spring)

All Skill Levels, Young Adults & Adults

Instructor: George E. Brown

Do you want to take your photography to the next level? Do you feel you can take a good picture, but want to learn to take a great picture? Do you want to feel comfortable that you can get the image no matter what lighting situation you are in? Then this class is for you. This class is for those wanting to take their photography one step further.  In this class we discuss lenses and how they affect your images. We talk about flashes, and we talk about the quality of light including soft and hard light and we talk about posing people and how to help them feel comfortable. How do you know if you’re ready for the intermediate class? If you can answer these questions, you may truly be ready for the intermediate class.  Do I know what the aperture and shutter speed of a camera are, and do I have a knowledge of how to use them? Do I know what white balance is, and how to use it? Do I know what ISO is, and how it affects my pictures? Am I familiar with shooting in the aperture priority and shutter priority modes of my camera? Am I familiar with compositional rules, such as the rule of thirds, shooting in quadrants, leading lines, etc…? If you can answer yes to these questions, you are ready for the intermediate class.

Photography for the true beginner Online! (Spring)

Beginners, Young Adults & Adults

Instructor: George Brown
Is your fancy digital camera still on auto, just like it was the day you took it out of the box? Does trying to read the techno-jargon in your camera’s manual make you want to pull your hair out? Today’s digital cameras offer the photographer a variety of functions and features that can lead to stunning photographs, however their options, modes, and settings can also prove baffling to the beginner. Naturally, understanding how to use your camera is the first step in taking better photos. Your teacher will help guide you through what you need to know to operate your camera as a photographer, what is redundant, and what is useless! Once you can operate your camera you can start thinking like a photographer and start capturing quality images. Together we will explore camera functionality such as setting proper exposure, using various shooting modes, freezing and blurring motion, and adding creativity to your photos by controlling depth of field. You’ll also benefit from many professional tips and tricks provided throughout the class that can make learning photography even more fun!

Therapeutic Yoga with Marilyn

Online Therapeutic Yoga with Marilyn

All Skill Levels (Ages 16+ Adult)
Curious about the difference between yoga and yoga therapy?  Both a yoga class and yoga therapy session are valid and valuable, but they are different. A yoga class focuses on the techniques or yoga practice. When clients see a yoga therapist or a therapeutic group, it’s usually not to learn about yoga but to get help with or relief from some symptom or health condition that is bothering them.  Yoga therapeutic methods are based on the principles of yoga, scientific data, and the experience of yoga teachers.  The client is the focus as well as how yoga techniques can help the client feel better or improve their function.  Clients can participate in one-on-one individualized sessions or in a group session where clients have similar conditions or a variety of conditions.  After an intake and assessment, the yoga therapist focuses on the client’s specific symptoms and identifies methods to help them manage those symptoms in subsequent sessions. The yoga therapist also empowers clients to take an active role in their self-care, to help them overcome challenges, and gain independence. No prior experience necessary.
